Coon Creek Overview
Managed as a public recreational site, a nature preserve and an environmental study area, the Coon Creek Tract in Tallapoosa County offers anglers, hunters, hikers, canoeists, bird watchers and boaters 320 scenic acres of pine-hardwood creek valley which feed into Yates Lake.
The tract, which provides five miles of hiking trails and a public boat ramp, lies across the Tallapoosa River from the Yates Lake West Tract (Forever Wild Acquisition No. 73).
From Montgomery, travel North on I-85. Take exit 26 and travel North on AL-229 to Tallassee. In Tallassee, turn right onto AL-14. Travel on AL-14 for roughly 2 miles and turn left onto Tallapoosa Co. Rd. 6/Macedonia Rd. Veer left onto Hicks Store Rd. Take a left onto Gravel Pit Drive and turn immediately right onto Coon Creek Landing Road. Get Directions
