Lauderdale and Freedom Hills WMA Overview
Hunters, bird watchers, and trail riders have much to enjoy across the 36,906 acres of the twelve Lauderdale and Freedom Hills Wildlife Management Area additions (Nos. 20, 43, 45, 46, 58, 66, 77, 82, 83, 84, 86, 89).
These tracts of pine and hardwood forest habitats in Lauderdale and Colbert counties serve as public land additions to the Freedom Hills WMA and Lauderdale WMA, which have experienced recent acreage declines due to loss of leased land. These acquisitions also created and expanded the Riverton Community Hunting Area (CHA).
Horseback riding trails are available on the Freedom Hills WMA outside of hunting season.
