Overview
Seventy percent of the William R. Ireland Sr.-Cahaba River Wildlife Management Area Tract in Shelby and Bibb counties consists of a 94-year hunting lease. The mountainous and wooded terrain hosts springs, rocky bluffs, early successional habitats within reclaimed areas, and plantation forests bordering the Cahaba River.
Besides hunting, other recreational opportunities include wildlife observation as well as boating and fishing on the Cahaba River.
Hunting
Hunters must possess a valid hunting license, a WMA license and a free map/permit. Permits and other WMA information may be downloaded from the Wildlife Management Areas webpage.

Directions
From I-65, take exit 231 (Calera). Take US 31 N for approximately 1 mile. Turn left onto Shelby Co. Rd. 22. When Co. Rd. 22 ends, turn right onto Co. Rd. 10. The check-in station will be approximately 2.2 miles ahead on the right.
