These tracts were purchased adjacent to DeSoto State Park to increase access and support current uses within the park such as recreation, habitat conservation and education. The tracts provide for expansion of the park's trail system and act as a buffer from future development on adjacent land.

Visitors to the park may enjoy hiking, biking, birdwatching, camping, picnicking and other outdoor activities. Admission may be charged to enter DeSoto State Park.

Birding
DeSoto State Park‘s Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail is a stop on the North Alabama Birding Trail. See recent sightings on ebird.

Directions
From Scottsboro, take AL-35 east approximately 27 miles to Gault Ave. South in Fort Payne. Turn left on Gault Ave South and go approximately 1.1 miles to 5th Street. Turn right on 5th Street NE and go approximately 0.4 miles to Wallace Ave. Turn left on Wallace Ave. and go approximately 2 miles to DeKalb Co. Rd. 89/DeSoto Pkwy. NE. Turn left on DeSoto Pkwy. NE and go approximately 5.4 miles. DeSoto State Park will be on the right.
